CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
The Lost Food Banquet of the North
Do you live in a northern country or belong to a circumpolar community? Do you have family memories or stories you’d like to share? Are you involved in the arts, cooking, agri-food or working with seniors?
How to participate
Add your voice to a participatory exhibition featuring stories of lost dishes from circumpolar and Nordic countries. Our team of artists collects hundreds of stories and represents them on a large banquet table, using video, sound, drawing, zine, embroidery, objects and more. Visitors are invited to add their own stories to the banquet!
What’s a story about a lost dish? It could be, for example:
-A dish your grandmother used to cook for you, but whose recipe has disappeared.
-A dish on the menu of your favorite restaurant that has had to close.
-A dish you’ve tried and still remember.
-A dish requiring an ingredient to which you no longer have access (migration, unavailable ingredient) or a meal from your place of origin that is not cooked in your new home.
-An animal, plant or grain that your community used to cultivate and/or eat, and which is on the verge of extinction.
We’re looking to collect as many stories as possible, but also to create links and friendships with other story-gatherers in the community.
Have a look at our latest exhibition to find out how your stories could be integrated. Stories will be presented in various ways: written, printed or embroidered, for example. We reserve the possibility of integrating or not each story according to this year’s theme: nordicity.
The Lors Food Banquet of the North will be presented in March 2025 as part of :
